Common quick fixes

I bought Premium but the app still says FREE

Almost always a quick fix:

  1. Open MapYourReader and pull up the paywall (tap +Add a folder).
  2. Tap Restore Purchase at the bottom of the paywall.
  3. Wait 3–5 seconds. The badge should change to gold PREMIUM.

If Restore says "No previous purchase found," confirm you're signed into the same Apple ID that made the purchase: Settings → [Your Name] → Media & Purchases. Family Sharing purchases also restore — make sure the family organizer's Apple ID is active.

The purchase sheet doesn't appear when I tap Unlock

This usually means iOS can't reach Apple's purchase servers. Try these in order:

  1. Switch from Wi-Fi to cellular (or vice versa) and try again.
  2. Sign out and back into your Apple ID: Settings → [Your Name] → Sign Out.
  3. Restart your iPhone or iPad.
  4. Check Apple System Status at apple.com/support/systemstatus — if App Store Purchases shows yellow, it's an Apple-side outage and will clear shortly.
A file I imported won't open or shows blank

A handful of files are malformed in ways that defeat the renderer. Try:

My notes / highlights disappeared

MapYourReader stores notes locally on the device — there's no cloud backup (this is the privacy tradeoff). Notes can disappear if:

Export notes regularly via the Notes tab → share icon → Export, especially before uninstalling or wiping a device. Cloud sync is on the roadmap.

What devices are supported?

iPhone and iPad running iOS 15 or later. The app is universal, so a single purchase works on every device signed into your Apple ID.

Is there an Android, Mac, or Windows version?

Not yet. The current release is iOS-only. An Android port is being considered for 2026 timeline; a Mac (Catalyst) build is more likely sooner since it runs on the same codebase. Email [email protected] to be notified.

Does MapYourReader really not collect any data?

Correct. No analytics SDK, no advertising SDK, no crash reporter, no account system. Verify it yourself in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → App Privacy Report after using the app. Read the full privacy policy.

What does Premium include vs. Free?

Free tier: Read up to 3 files at a time, every supported format, all themes, all reading features.

Premium ($11 one-time): Unlimited library, bulk folder import preserving nested structure, premium app icon, every future feature included.

Premium is a non-consumable in-app purchase — pay once, keep forever. No subscription. No recurring charge.

How do I cancel? How do I get a refund?

Premium is a one-time purchase, not a subscription, so there's nothing to cancel — the entitlement just stays with your Apple ID.

For a refund: refunds are processed by Apple, not by us. Go to reportaproblem.apple.com, sign in, find your MapYourReader Premium purchase, and request a refund. Apple typically responds within 48 hours. We have no influence over Apple's refund decisions, but we won't dispute one — if MapYourReader isn't right for you, you should get your money back.

Can I use MapYourReader on multiple devices?

Yes. Install on as many iPhones/iPads as you like — Premium follows your Apple ID. Tap Restore Purchase on each new device to activate it.

Note: your library (files, notes, highlights) does not sync between devices automatically. The same files have to be imported on each device. Cross-device sync is on the roadmap with end-to-end encryption.

What about Family Sharing?

Family Sharing for the Premium purchase is currently turned off. If this is important to you, email us and we'll enable it.

How do I export my notes and highlights?

Open the Notes tab at the bottom of the app → tap the share icon (top right) → choose Export. You'll get a plain-text or Markdown file with all your highlights and notes, organized by source document with timestamps. Send it via the iOS share sheet to email, AirDrop, Files, or any other app.

Can I import an entire folder from iCloud / Google Drive?

Yes, with Premium. Tap + in the library → Add a folder. Pick any folder from Files, iCloud Drive, Google Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive, or any other provider exposed through the iOS Files app. MapYourReader walks the entire folder tree, imports every supported file, and preserves the folder hierarchy.

I lost my purchase — what now?

Open the paywall, tap Restore Purchase. If you're signed into the same Apple ID, your Premium will be restored within seconds. If Apple says no purchase is found and you're certain you bought it, email [email protected] with your purchase receipt and we'll help sort it out.
