The Story That Started Everything
From personal field notes to a global engineering resource — here is how MapYourTech came to be.
It began with a real gap. Sanjay Yadav, working as an Optical Networking Engineer, could not find practical resources that connected textbook theory to real-world deployment. So he began taking notes — personal insights from live projects, troubleshooting scenarios from the field, and automation scripts that actually worked.
The Turning Point
When colleagues started requesting copies of those notes, Sanjay recognized something important: engineers do not need more theory. They need practical wisdom from someone who has designed, deployed, and troubleshot real networks.
What started as a personal blog on March 29, 2011 grew steadily into something far more significant. MapYourTech became the resource Sanjay had always wished existed — a place where concepts meet implementation, where theory translates to practice, and where engineers help other engineers grow.

Sanjay has spent nearly two decades at the intersection of optical networking, cloud infrastructure, and automation engineering. From submarine cable trials across the Pacific to building AWS's global optical data center interconnect network, his experience spans some of the most complex and high-stakes network environments in the world.
He has worked with global organizations including AWS, Cisco, Ciena, Ribbon Communications, Alcatel-Lucent, Huawei, and ECI Telecom — solving the kinds of engineering problems that most professionals encounter only in theory. That experience is what drives every course, article, and tool on MapYourTech.
Sanjay is also the author of Optical Network Communications: An Engineer's Perspective — a reference guide designed to bridge the gap between theoretical understanding and practical deployment.
